New Year Wishes
"May your coming year be filled with magic and dreams and good madness.
I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you're wonderful,
and don't forget to make some art --
write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can.
And I hope, somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself."
~Neil Gaiman~

"Great" they are indeed...
My husbands parents are absolutely wonderful people whom I love dearly. Unfortunately, they live 6000km away, so our time together is quite limited.
So, needless to say, when they flew up to visit us this week we were more than excited to see them.
And......they got to meet their (first and only) great grand daughter for the very first time. What a happy moment for all of us!
I know the next three weeks will fly by.... but for now we intend to enjoy every moment we can with them.
Have a happy Sunday everyone! xx

These are my two beautiful girls and such a joy to my life they have been. But sometimes life is not always filled with joy.
For the past couple of years my youngest daughter has been dealing with health issues. It was a very scary time for all of us. But thankfully, a couple of months ago, she got a clean bill of health, and now she can finally move on with her life.
She just applied for a brand new job which will hopefully begin a wonderful career for her (fingers crossed she gets the job) and although raising a daughter (on her own) is not the ideal life for a 20 year old young woman, she is an amazing Mom and we are so proud of her!
Then there is my oldest daughter, Amanda.....
A couple of weeks ago Amanda moved from the home (and friends) she has known for the past four years, to a whole new city and a whole new job. A huge city, all alone - she was scared too death!
But as scary as that is for her, now she is also dealing with the break up of her five year relationship. Her and Nolan got engaged last year and were supposed to get married next summer. But that's all over now. Last week their relationship ended.
This mother's heart aches so deeply for her children when she knows they are hurting. All I want to do is scoop them both into my arms and protect them from the big bad world. But as happy as it would make me to keep them safe, I also realize that I would be preventing them from learning the lessons in life that will form their future and make them strong. If our lives consisted of only sunshine and rainbows we would never learn to appreciate their beauty as much as we do after a rainstorm.
I have always told my girls that we have two choices in life. We can look at the mountains of life in fear, or we can take a big deep breath, and climb that thing. Standing on the top of that mountain will always feel better than sitting at the bottom in fear. Either way, no matter which choice we make - sit or climb - the mountain will still there.
A message to my girls:
“Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think."
~Christopher Robin to Pooh~
And most important....always remember that I love you both (all the monies in the world) xx

The story of a little girl and her best bud!
From the time she gets out of bed in the morning, til the time she goes to bed at night... These two are inseperable!! Yup! Grandpa and his little sidekick!
She loves to hold his car keys and is so happy when she gets to ride in the car or truck with him...sitting up all proud in her carseat.
There is lots of fun and silliness when these two get together. And although one of them is as mischevious as the other, they still crack each other up with laughter on a daily basis. It is quite normal to see a 13 month old crawling through the house, quickly followed by a 47 year old man ....also crawling! Oh yes, these two are up to much! And the pillow in the background says it all..."Friends" ....Yes, indeed they are! Best Friends!!
She is a lucky little girl to have a Grandpa who loves her so much. But I think he feels equally as lucky to have such a precious little pal to brighten his day!

My appointment with wisdom...
A 75 year old retired farmer sat in my office today.
With tears in his eyes he told me how lonely he feels since his wife passed away last year.
"For years," he said, "I worked long hours in the field, spending time away from my wife, and away from my children. We never went on family vacations... and as a matter of fact we rarely even ate supper together. To be honest, I was usually too tired to enjoy it anyway."
"Before I knew it my children had grown up, moved away, married, and were having children of their own. Yet still I worked on.... long and hard."
"Then two years ago my wife got sick. Finally I realized it was time to slow down. I retired so that I could spent time with her."
"But our time was spent at the doctor's office, the cancer clinic, the hospital, the lab..... and eventually, spent sleeping next to her in a hospital bed."
"Within a few weeks she passed away. The love of my life gone. GONE!"
"Now my days are spent sitting on the front patio, coffee cup in hand, all alone....surrounded by silence - wishing more than anything that she was next to me."
"Yes, my bank account may be large, and my debts may be few, but no amount of money can heal the hollowness in my heart or the longing in my soul to turn back the hands of time."
"Take a lesson from an old man who has learned the hard way, make your family a priority above everything else. Work less .....and love more."
Needless to say, when this gentleman left my office today, and I swallowed the lump in my throat for at least 5 minutes, I realized how right he was.
On a yellow sticky in big bold letters I wrote the words "WORK LESS & LOVE MORE" and stuck it to my computer. Then I packed up my files, shut down my computer, and went home....to my family!

Birthday girl...
A couple of days ago our precious little angel celebrated her very first birthday.
There was balloons, and cake, and treats, and bubbles, and...of course... a ton of presents.
Our grandbaby's birthday was a very special day for us! A year ago she was a very sick little girl. She was hooked up to tubes, and we were scared too death that she wasn't going to make it. I would never want to experience fear like that, ever again.
But look at her now - a year later! She's a healthy, happy, VERY active, beautiful, little girl. She screams when she shouldn't, sleeps when she wants to, laughs at absolutely everything, and keeps us running all day long.
But truth be told, as busy as she keeps us, we wouldn't trade a moment. We are truly blessed to have her in our lives.

Special Surprise..
My beautiful friend Jeanna sent me a care package.
It contained lots of amazing surprises. Soaps, and jellies, and recipes, and stationary, and crafts, and a beautiful hand knit scarf.
She even sent some special treats for Taliyah.
And as you can see Taliyah has taken a liking to one friend in particular, Ms Mousey. Ms Mousey gets lots and lots of Taliyah kisses.
Thanks Jeanna...luv ya! xxx

Appreciate the day...
Normal day... let me be aware of the treasure you are.
Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart.
Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow.
Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so.
One day I shall dig my nails into the earth,
or bury my face in the pillow,
or stretch myself taut,
or raise my hands to the sky and want,
more than all the world,
your return.
~Mary Jean Iron~
I love this quote!
Sometimes I am so guilty of looking backward, and dreaming forward, that I forget to seize the beautiful moments right in front of me.

That kind of week...
Life has been a little crazy lately and unfortunately I haven't had the time to blog (or comment on all the lovely other blogs) as I would like to, but I'll catch up soon.
It's funny, isn't it, the times in life when you have so much going on, so much to write about, are the times when you just don't have the time. Ah well, things will settle down again soon!
Happy weekend everyone! xx

It's the "storm" that never ends.. cuz it goes on and on my friends!!
During all thirteen of the years I have lived in Saskatchewan I have never seen such a disappointing summer! The storms and the rain just won't quit!
Have a peek at the hail on my neighbour's roof top this afternoon..
and the hail pebbles in my driveway..
Seriously, I think Mother Nature and I need to have a chat!!!

On this day...
Twenty three years ago today two crazy young kids stood before friends and family. Promising, before the eyes of God, that they would love, honor, and cherish each other for the rest of their lives. Rich in love, and high on dreams, they thought they had it all.
Throughout the years those crazy kids have weathered many storms together. But somewhere along the way not only have they grown up, but they have grown stronger....together.
Twenty three years ago today, I married by best friend!! and when I look back over the years I wouldn't change one moment of our lives together. The memories we have made are one of my greatest treasures.
Happy Anniversary Sweetheart
I love you! xx
